Under this scheme, a master-sub metering arrangement is implemented, where the landlord or MCST will buy electricity for the entire premises on behalf of all tenants.
The landlord has to obtain 100% consensus from all sub-metered tenants before they can turn contestable.
If a tenant subsequently decides to opt out of this arrangement, all tenants and the landlord will revert to buying electricity from SP Group at the regulated tariff
Under the Demand Aggregation Scheme, a landlord or MCST does not need to obtain the consent of all tenants to buy electricity from a retailer.
Senoko Energy can help landlords carve out the common areas and public facilities’ electricity load of one or more consenting tenants under a new sub-metered account.
The remaining tenants can continue to buy electricity from SP Group at the regulated tariff, or from electricity retailers if they meet the contestability criteria.
When a building becomes contestable, the landlord is responsible for reading the tenants’ meters and billing.
